About the Photographer

Alicia Dickerson captures the unique connection that can exist between a person and their animal. She grew up in a family of artists, surrounded by photography, painting, sculpture and stained glass. In college she studied photography, wilderness preservation and howler monkeys in Nicaragua. After graduating with degrees in both Environmental Studies and Anthropology, she went on to teach children about nature at various outdoor schools. Throughout, she photographed everything. When Alicia decided to pursue photography full-time, she went to the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Montana to receive formal training. With her background in art and the environment, sensitivity to both animals and people, and technical expertise, Alicia can’t think of a better way to spend a day than photographing people with their animals. Her fine art pet portraits are simple and inspired, capturing the spirit of an animal and the real connection between a person and their animal. Her photos are original (she will never photograph puppies in a basket!). Alicia takes the time to make sure both the people and the animals are relaxed and having fun. Photo sessions can take place in the studio, at a private residence or at a favorite outdoor spot. Alicia currently has 3 chickens & an Australian Shepherd/Greyhound mutt named Maya and a black cat, both adopted from the Oregon Humane Society.
