Why should I hire a professional? Everyone seems to have a camera these days, but the photos don’t quite turn out right. As a professional photographer, I not only have the top of the line gear and technical expertise, I also know how to work with people and animals. I believe in capturing the true spirit of your pet. With your help (and a few treats!) your animal will shine in front of the camera. My style is different from other photo studios in that I not only take photos of your animal, but specialize in capturing your relationship and interactions together. Some arranging, but not formal posing, will be involved in your session, but an emphasis will be placed on capturing your true connection. Where is the your photo studio and what is it like? The photo studio is located in the historic Alameda district of Portland, Oregon. As far back as 1916, the studio once held horse-drawn carriages. On the adjacent street, rings to tie up horses are still present. While the space no longer holds carriages, it maintains its original charm and has been remodeled to be a modern-day boutique photo studio. It is the perfect place for you, your family and your four legged friends to enjoy a photo session. What should I wear to my photo session? Generally, solid colors, not patterns, look best in photos. If more than one person is in the photo, make sure the colors you pick are complimentary. Some people choose to match, wearing something like jeans with black shirts or khaki pants with white shirts. It is up to you how coordinated you want your clothes to be. Just make sure that you wear a color different from your animal. A black dog in front of you in a black shirt is hard to see. You may also want to bring a change of clothes, just in case. What is the "Hip Hound of the Month?" Each month we choose one lucky dog's photo to be featured at The Hip Hound, a boutique pet store (on NW Westover and NW 23rd Place). The winner receives a $25 gift certificate to The Hip Hound, an 11x14 photo prominently displayed at the store, and the final 11x14 print. Any dog we photograph is automatically entered to win! Do you travel? Yes! I love to travel. Anywhere in the Portland Metro area is included in my base prices. The fees for greater distances are based on mileage. Please call with your specific location. Do you photograph large groups? Of course! Standard prices include 2 people and 2 animals. For each additional person or animal, add $25/session. Where can I find my photos online?
